Travel

Dundee lies on the east coast of Scotland, some 480 miles (780km) north of London, about 60 miles (95km) north of Edinburgh, and a similar distance south of Aberdeen.

By Road

By road, Dundee is easily accessible, directly linked by dual-carriageway and motorway from all main UK centres of population. From the south, follow either the M80, M9 and A9 from Glasgow or the M90 from Edinburgh to Perth, and from there the A90 to Dundee.

By Rail

Trains serve Dundee station direct from most major UK cities, including Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Plymouth and Leeds. Dundee Airport

Dundee is linked directly with London City Airport by scheduled flights operated by ScotAirways.

There are also regular direct flights to Dundee from Birmingham International Airport (BHX) in England and Belfast City Airport in Northern Ireland. Both of these routes are operated by FlyWhoosh.

Other Scottish Airports

Dundee is also within easy travelling distance of Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow Airports, which offer extensive services to cities in the UK, Europe and beyond. Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports also provide direct flights to North America.

Airport Information: Edinburgh

The Airlink FlyByBus service provides shuttle buses from Stand 19 outside the terminal building at Edinburgh Airport to Waverley Rail Station in Edinburgh City Centre. Tickets can be purchased from the driver (single and return fares are available) or can be purchased online at FlyByBus.com. These buses leave the Airport every 10 minutes during the day and less frequently during the night (times are on the website).

An alternative service, the Edinburgh Shuttle (www.edinburghshuttle.com operates from dedicated stands outside the terminal entrance and will drop off anywhere in Edinburgh City Centre, departing every 10-15 minutes. Visit the website for details.

There are frequent trains from Edinburgh's Waverley Rail Station to Dundee operated by First ScotRail, GNER and Virgin Trains. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket office at the station or ordered online at TheTrainLine.com.

There are also coach services from Edinburgh Bus Station to Dundee operated by CityLink.

Airport Information: Aberdeen

The easiest way to travel from Aberdeen Airport is by taxi. Take a taxi from the Airport terminal to Aberdeen Rail Station, where there are frequent train services to Dundee. Train tickets can be purchased from the ticket office at the station or ordered online at TheTrainLine.com.

There are also coach services from Aberdeen Bus Station (which is close to the Rail Station) to Dundee operated by CityLink.

Airport Information: Glasgow

The GlasgowFlyer shuttle bus service departs from Stance 1 outside the terminal building frequently during the day (at least every 10 minutes). Tickets can be purchased from the driver (single and return fares are available) or can be purchased online at GlasgowFlyer.com.

This shuttle bus travels to Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow City Centre. From here there are regular coach services to Dundee operated by CityLink.

Alternatively there are also regular train services to Dundee from Glasgow Queen Street Rail Station (Note: NOT Glasgow Central Station). Queen Street Rail Station is a short walk from Buchanan Bus Station (where the GlasgowFlyer Airport shuttle service terminates) just on the opposite side of the Buchanan Galleries Shopping Centre from the bus station. Train tickets can be purchased from the ticket office at the station or ordered online at TheTrainLine.com.
